Don’t Let Fear Stand in the Way of Your Dreams

While most of the country is pretty much on lockdown and going stir crazy, I thought it would be a good time to give everyone a tropical break! While vacationing in Costa Rica in January, 2020, I had the opportunity to meet up with Matthew Davis, a friend I made a year ago in the Wellness Coaching Program at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. I remember hearing that he was a registered nurse in Texas but also building his dream in Costa Rica. I was instantly intrigued and wanted to learn more so that is exactly what I did on[...]

Have Your Donuts and Eat Them Too???

Posted In: Uncategorized
Years ago, I loved donuts. Didn’t matter where I got them, I loved them. I especially loved the traditional fall donuts at some of our local pumpkin and apple farms that were apple cinnamon and ohhhhh sooooo good!!! As the years went by, I became aware of the fact that they weren’t exactly a health food or even provided any necessary nutrition for my body so they became a very occasional treat.  After being diagnosed with hypothyroidism, an auto immune disease, I didn’t realize how differently food could impact my[...]

My life isn’t perfect and full of roses and unicorns. I’m sharing right now my HUGE disappointment. I recently posted my excitement and enthusiasm with passing the National Board Exam for Health and Wellness Coaches but it didn’t come easy. What I am finally sharing is that I didn’t pass the first time I took it. I know I’m not the onl[...]

Trackers and Quality Sleep

Interesting pix, don’t you think? I look pretty goofy snuggling with my pup in what look like sunglasses . It all started almost a year ago this fall. I’m hyper vigilant about keeping up on my regular labs which include hormone testing .  I am hypothyroid so have an underactive thyroid along with several other medical conditions to stay on top of. I had received my labs back and my TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) was well below normal which wasn’t good at all. Another number that jumped out was once again my ve[...]

GROUNDING

Posted In: Uncategorized
Yesterday I was outside with my husband trimming an overgrown tree. He was interrupted and had to leave so I took the time to sit in the shade, take my shoes off, and plant the bottoms of my feet on the ground in front of me and the palms of my hands on the ground behind me as I leaned back. Living in the Midwest doesn’t offer me this opportunity all year so when the weather is nice, I like to practice grounding. Grounding.  As a teenager, that word had a much different connotation than it does today.  As I conti[...]
